This Privacy Policy explains how Cardernir collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Cardernir mobile app and website.
Cardernir is operated by Olufemi Ojeyemi, a sole proprietor registered in Canada.
Cardernir is designed to work without requiring users to create an account. In this version, learning progress is stored locally on your device, and purchases are managed through your Apple ID using Apple’s in-app purchase system.
1. Information We Collect
Cardernir does not require you to create an account, and we do not collect account registration information such as usernames or passwords.
The app may process or store the following types of information depending on how you use it:
- Local learning progress, such as studied cards, review history, spaced repetition scheduling, downloaded decks, and app preferences. This information is stored on your device.
- Purchase and subscription status provided by Apple through StoreKit, such as whether you have purchased a pack or have an active subscription.
- App content requests, such as requests to download available packs, decks, images, or other learning content from Cardernir’s backend.
- Advertising-related information processed by Google AdMob, which may include device identifiers, approximate location, ad interactions, diagnostics, and other information used to provide, limit, measure, and improve ads.
- Support information you choose to send us, such as your email address and the contents of your message if you contact support.
2. Local Progress and Device Storage
Cardernir stores learning progress locally on your device. This may include your downloaded decks, review status, study history, spaced repetition data, and app settings.
Because progress is stored locally in this version, uninstalling the app, deleting app data, changing devices, or resetting your device may permanently remove your progress unless your device or Apple account provides a separate backup or restore mechanism.
Cardernir does not currently provide a Cardernir account system for syncing progress across devices.
3. Purchases and Subscriptions
Cardernir offers in-app purchases, including non-consumable purchases for individual content packs and auto-renewable subscriptions such as monthly or yearly plans. Some subscriptions may include promotional trials or introductory offers where available.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Cardernir does not receive or store your full payment card details.
Your purchase and subscription status is tied to your Apple ID and is managed through Apple’s in-app purchase system. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID or App Store account settings.
4. How We Use Information
We use information only as needed to operate, maintain, and improve Cardernir.
- To provide flashcard learning features and spaced repetition functionality.
- To download and display packs, decks, images, and learning content.
- To confirm access to purchased packs or subscription features.
- To show ads to users who do not have ad-free or premium access.
- To respond to support requests.
- To diagnose bugs, improve performance, prevent abuse, and maintain the reliability of the app.
5. Third-Party Services
Cardernir uses third-party services to provide core app functionality. These services may process information according to their own privacy policies and technical requirements.
- Apple: used for App Store distribution, in-app purchases, subscriptions, promotional offers, purchase restoration, and related purchase management.
- Google AdMob: used to display and measure ads. Google may process advertising-related data, including identifiers and ad interaction data, depending on your device settings, region, consent choices, and applicable law.
- Supabase: used to host and deliver Cardernir content such as packs, decks, card data, and related app content.
- Kingfisher: used in the app to load and cache images efficiently.
- FSRS: used to support spaced repetition scheduling.
6. Advertising
Cardernir may show ads through Google AdMob. Ads may be personalized or non-personalized depending on your location, consent choices, Apple privacy settings, and Google’s advertising systems.
Where required by law, you may be asked to provide consent before certain advertising technologies or personalized advertising features are used.
Users with an active premium subscription or other ad-free access may not be shown ads in parts of the app covered by that access.
7. Analytics and Diagnostics
Cardernir does not currently operate a separate user account analytics system. However, Apple, Google AdMob, Supabase, or other integrated services may process diagnostic, performance, crash, usage, or technical information as part of providing their services.
If Cardernir adds additional analytics or crash reporting tools in the future, this Privacy Policy may be updated to describe those tools and how they are used.
8. Images, Audio, and Future Content Features
Cardernir may display images or other media associated with cards when available. These assets may be loaded from Cardernir’s backend or cached on your device.
Cardernir may add audio support in a future update, including text-to-speech or audio files loaded from a storage service. If this changes how information is collected or processed, this Privacy Policy may be updated.
9. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share or make information available only in the following limited situations:
- With service providers that help operate Cardernir, such as Apple, Google AdMob, and Supabase.
- When required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable government request.
- To protect the rights, safety, security, or integrity of Cardernir, users, the public, or our services.
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, if Cardernir is ever transferred to another operator.
10. Data Retention
Local progress remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the app, reset your device, or otherwise remove the data.
Support emails may be retained for as long as needed to respond to your request, maintain records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.
Third-party services may retain information according to their own privacy policies and retention practices.
11. Your Choices
- You can delete local Cardernir data by deleting the app or using any in-app reset or delete options that may be available.
- You can manage subscriptions through your Apple ID or App Store account settings.
- You can restore eligible purchases in the app where purchase restoration is available.
- You can manage Apple advertising and tracking permissions through your device settings.
- You can contact us to ask privacy-related questions or request assistance.
12. Children’s Privacy
Cardernir is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
13. International Users
Cardernir is operated from Canada and may be available in multiple countries and regions. By using Cardernir, you understand that information may be processed in Canada or in other countries where our service providers operate.
Privacy laws may vary by location. Where required, we will handle information according to applicable privacy requirements.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information associated with Cardernir. However, no app, website, network, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above.
Changes are effective when posted on this page unless a different effective date is stated. Your continued use of Cardernir after changes are posted means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
